What subjects do you cover?

We are passionate about science and technology and we're always keen to take on new and exciting challenges. We cover all subjects across science, medical science and engineering. Most recently we've supported departments to enhance lab courses in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pharmacology, Genetics, Anatomy and Electrical, Civil, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

How do I license pre lab resources for use on my course?

Pre lab resources can be purchased on an annual licence basis and you have the freedom to license all or part of the library to suit your course needs. If required, each resource can be customised easily to exactly match your practical lab requirements. If you have an idea for something that’s not already in the library then we can also develop content from scratch.

How do I license post lab resources for use on my course?

Autograded post lab assignments can be created on a per lab basis to exactly match your assessment requirements. We will work with you to analyse each lab and create a digital lab report with options to include a variety of question types and a mix of auto and manually graded formats.

Can I trial the resources before making a decision?

Yes, of course. We can provide access for you and your colleagues to review the resources online.

Will I need to change my practicals in order to use the pre and post labs?

No. The pre and post lab resources are meant to enhance, not replace, your current teaching approach. All of the content can be tailored to meet the requirements of your existing lab course.

Can we include our own resources (such as video demonstrations) alongside your resources?

Yes. The assignments can contain a wide variety of resources, including any videos or questions that you have already developed.


Staff and Student Access

How do staff and students access the resources?

The resources can be accessed on your institutional VLE on any of the standard browsers and devices that it supports. Students do not need a separate login and can access content on and off campus.

How do the resources appear to the students?

The resources are seamlessly integrated into the assignments within your VLE course content, delivering a professional student experience that is easy to use and engaging.

Can I track student progress?

Yes, details of students marks, including resources accessed, attempts and grades are all tracked and stored in your VLE gradebook. Students can review their attempts and staff can check and evaluate progress at all times.


Set-up and Support

How are the resources set up?

The resources are hosted on our secure servers and accessed by staff and students on your institutional VLE using their normal logins via an LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) link. We will provide you with a URL link and password for each resource which can be used to embed the resource into your course assignments. When students select the link, the VLE seamlessly launches the content. Students work through the activities and any associated marks are passed to your VLE gradebook.

What level of involvement is required from our teaching and IT staff?

Our science and technical teams can take the hard work out of setting up your course, however we’ll need your input along the way to choose resources, define assessments, and agree grading rules. Your platform administration service will also need to set us up on your VLE as an LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) learning resource provider.

What support do you provide?

We’re fully committed to providing the highest levels of support and will work with you every step of the way to make your course a success. During the set-up process our teams will provide as much help as you need to ensure that your course resources work seamlessly for staff and students. We’ll also provide a fast, personal on-going support service throughout the year, whenever you need it.

What is the LTI standard?

Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) is an industry standard created by the IMS Global Learning Consortium. Its primary purpose is to connect learning systems, such as a learning management system (LMS), with external service tools in a standard way across learning systems. It is supported by all of the major platforms including Blackboard, Moodle and Canvas.
